Hancock resident Julia Carlson Dennis celebrated her 110th birthday with friends and family members on Sunday, following service at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

Dennis was the center of attention at the coffee fellowship, as her family members and congregation members enjoyed cake and coffee to celebrate her September 10 birthday.

While Dennis didn't give up the secret to her long and happy life, she did work as an accountant until she was 70, but kept a few clients up until she turned 90.

She's also been a lifelong member of the church, where fellow members speak highly of her.

She never drove a car, she always walked or taxi, always had a pantry full of goodies, growing up we would stay summers with her," says granddaughter Kay Campbell. "She is loving, never yelled at us girls, she always was loving towards us."

It is expected that Dennis will be recognized on the NBC Today Show's Smuckers birthday segment on Tuesday.
