Hancock man arraigned after driving intoxicated, shooting snowbank

HANCOCK, Mich. (WLUC) - Jared Freeman, 37, was arraigned in Houghton County District Court. He's charged with operating while intoxicated-felony third offense, licenses, documents, plates forgery, and possession of firearms while under the influence.

A preliminary exam is scheduled for April 5. His bond is set at $2,500 cash.

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, March 12, the Hancock Police Department was called out on reports of numerous gun shots.

Once arriving to the scene on the 1200 block of Ingot Street, officers found a 37-year-old Hancock man standing outside his vehicle, which was stuck in a snowbank.

Officer investigation revealed the man was intoxicated, so he was arrested.

Officers also found numerous bullet casings on the ground. It appeared shots had been fired into the snowbank.

After a search of the vehicle, officers found and confiscated a Glock 9mm pistol.

Hancock Police Department was assisted on scene by the Houghton Police Department and the Houghton County Sheriff's Office.

The man was lodged in the Houghton County Jail and a report was forwarded to the Houghton County Prosecutor's Office.
