HANCOCK, Mich. (WLUC) - The city of Hancock is currently discussing the idea of "opting in" for recreational marijuana sales.
Hancock was one of the municipalities that temporarily opted out of recreational marijuana sales after the substance was legalized state wide.
At the most recent city council meeting, the council discussed moving forward with the procedure of opting into recreational marijuana sale, however they wanted to take more time and listen to the public's opinions first.
"We did have some strong public comments though last Wednesday. They wanted more public input from businesses, local leaders, schools, and the medical community, just more input," said Paul Lavine, the Mayor of Hancock.
The city of Hancock will be holding a public hearing on the matter at 6 p.m. on November 7th, taking place at the Finlandia University Finnish American Heritage Center.
