MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Tuesday, May 7, voters will have a chance to pass or deny a sinking fund millage proposal. It's being put forth by Gwinn Area Community Schools.
The special election is not county-wide. It's only for voters in the Gwinn Area Schools District. If passed the proposal would see the district levy a mill increase of 1.75 for ten years ending in 2028.
Since Proposal 3, known as "promote the vote," passed last November, this election will include a few changes. It expands voter registration to same-day and is also makes it easier to vote absentee.
"For voters now, what that Proposal 3 did was make your voting process, as registered voters, easier to do so we're here to help you through it," said Marquette County Clerk, Linda Talsma.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m Tuesday. You can register to vote in person if you bring proof of residency and identity.
