ISHPEMING, Mich. (WLUC) - The Gus Macker basketball tournament returns to Ishpeming this weekend.
The original three-on-three basketball festival started 46 years ago in a Gus Macker's driveway.
Now, it will make its way to downtown Ishpeming for the first time in nearly 20 years. Organizers say they're looking forward to bringing the community together for a good time.
"We have events going on throughout the whole day. We have dunk tank with local celebrities, if you want to call them that. It's going to be a contest among them. We're going to have food trucks. We have a hot wing eating challenge from Jersey's 41 and that will be taking place at 1 p.m. We have face painting, bouncy houses and just a lot of fun stuff planned,” said Jennifer Hendrickson, a local organizer.
The tournament will take place on Saturday, June 15, and Sunday June 16. Event leaders will begin setting up on Friday.
