SANDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - Each year on Father's Day weekend the Great Lakes Rodeo comes to the Marquette County Fairgrounds. This weekend is your chance to see real rodeo action with dad.
The rodeo features barrel racing, team roping, rodeo riding and new this year, a battle of the bands. There are events Friday through Sunday and on Sunday, dad gets in free if attending with his family. This will be the 14th year for the rodeo organizers say it's also about giving back.
"We are super excited to bring to the community the Great Lakes Rodeo, it brings in cowboys and cowgirls from all over the Midwest, we have actual open events for the cowboys and we have amateur events and local events," said President of the GLR, Jesie Melchori. "When it's all said and done, all of the funds that we raise from the rodeo are given back to the youth in the community."
Over the years the rodeo has raised more than $50,000 for local groups. For more information, including the full list of events check the related links section on this page.
