Governor Whitmer makes appointment to State Waterways Commission

LANSING, Mich. (WLUC) - Governor Gretchen Whitmer today announced the following appointments to the Michigan State Waterways Commission.

Elaine Sterrett Isley, of Grand Rapids, is the director of water programs for the West Michigan Environmental Action Council. Ms. Isley is appointed to succeed Nicki Polan, whose term expires September 18, 2019, to represent the general public, for a term commencing September 19, 2019 and expiring September 18, 2022.

Patrick K. Egan, of Brimley, is the board chair of Little Rapids Corporation, a medical paper products manufacturer. Mr. Egan is appointed to succeed James Hansen, whose term expires September 18, 2019, to represent residents residing north of Townline 16 in the Upper Peninsula, for a term commencing September 19, 2019 and expiring September 18, 2022.

The Michigan State Waterways Commission is responsible for the acquisition, construction, and maintenance of recreational harbors, channels, docking and launching facilities, and administration of commercial docks in the Straits of Mackinac.

These appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
