NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WLUC) - Earlier Wednesday afternoon, Governor Gretchen Whitmer stopped by Midtown Bakery and Cafe in Negaunee for some sweet treats.
It's a part of a tour she's been doing throughout the Upper Peninsula this week.
At the restaurant she spoke with the Midtown Bakery and Cafe's owner, Negaunee’s Mayor and the City Manager of Negaunee, along State Senator Ed McBroom.
She also met with local people and even walked around downtown Negaunee.
"It's pretty exciting. I mean we're a small town, but it's neat that she wants to know what's going on ... we're a long ways from Lansing so for her to be interested in what's happening here, and what our needs are I think it's really encouraging,” explained Midtown Bakery and Café’s owner, Marybeth Kurtz.
Kurtz is happy Governor Whitmer paid a visit, and hopes she will consider coming back soon.
