Gladstone man arrested after car v. vehicle accident

K.I. SAWYER, Mich. (WLUC) - Officers were called to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident in Gwinn on Wednesday afternoon.

The Marquette County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the accident on Eagle Street near Voodoo Avenue in K.I. Sawyer at approximately 2:14 p.m. on October 10.

According to the sheriff's office, a 44-year-old Gladstone man was backing a box truck into a parking space in front of a residence and struck the 58-year-old Gwinn man who was standing behind the truck to guide it. The Gwinn man was pinned between the truck and a small passenger car.

The Gwinn man was transported to U.P. Health System - Marquette and is in stable condition.

The Gladstone man was subsequently arrested on the suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. He is currently lodged at the Marquette County Jail.

The incident remains under investigation. Names have not been released at this time.

The sheriff's office was assisted at the scene by the Skandia/West Branch First Responders and Fire Department.
