GLADSTONE, Mich. (WLUC) - Now that Thanksgiving is over, people in Gladstone are ready to get in the holiday spirit.
They held their annual “Old Fashioned Christmas” event on Friday. It’s a family friendly event where they light a Christmas tree to help kick off the holiday season.
The event also featured a live nativity scene, complete with live goats. Open wagon rides around the downtown area were also offered to those in attendance.
The event is put on as a collaboration between the Gladstone Downtown Development Authority and City Hall.
“I think it is important because it builds pride in the community, having these kinds of events. It’s the time of year where you’re thankful for everything that has been bestowed upon us, and getting together with family and the community,” said Joe Thompson, Gladstone Mayor.
After the tree was lit, Santa Claus arrived in Gladstone ready to meet some of his fans.
