Giving Tuesday brings in more than $62K for student scholarships at Finlandia

HANCOCK, Mich. (WLUC) - Finlandia University is excited to announce it’s 2019 Giving Tuesday. Over 115 donors helped raise $62,403.25 for student scholarships.

“We are beyond thrilled by the generosity of our donors and their continued support of Giving Tuesday,” Director of Marketing and Communications Olivia Myers said. “We set a lofty goal on the day and our donors stepped up to provide our students with scholarships for the next semester.”

The 2019 Giving Tuesday campaign is comparable to FinnU’s 2018 efforts, which raised just over $65,600. Although the monetary amount was down slightly, Myers said the number of gifts increased from 103 in 2018 to 119 in 2019.

“I know we have thanked her several times already, but a huge thank you goes out to our Board of Trustees President Julie Badel,” said Myers. “Julie provided another $20,000 matching incentive this year which I believe helped inspire others to give and led to the increased number of gifts.”
