"Get Up and Moving" presentation held at Peter White Public Library
The older we get, the harder it can become to stay active. On Wednesday, community members got some tips on how to improve their mobility.
A presentation called “Get Up and Moving” was held at the Peter White Public Library today.
Attendees learned exercises that can help improve strength in areas needed to pick yourself off the ground. Research suggests that those who are able to get up off of the floor by themselves tend to live longer and healthier lives.
“People are happier, they stay out of the hospital, and they live more productive lives. I think that it’s important that people who do work like I do play a role in helping people not only be reminded of the importance of mobility but also show them the path that will show them how to do that safely,” said Brad Jackson, presenter and physical therapist at UP Rehab Services.
The presentation was held as part of the “For Your Health” series, which offers a different theme every quarter.
