ISHPEMING, Mich. (WLUC) - The Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce (GINCC) is implementing a new wellness campaign, The Chamber-Wide Wellness program. This begins April 1 and ends on June 30.

A motivator behind the Chamber-Wide Wellness program is simple. Recently, the City of Ishpeming was nominated as a finalist for the Michigan Governor’s Fitness Award for Most Active Community. The GINCC is thankful for the race directors, outdoor enthusiasts and trail organizations that give the community the chance for adventure. This campaign focuses on wellness programs that prevent illness and injury, promote health and productivity, and lower the total cost of health care. We aim to develop and maintain a healthier, more productive workforce and community.

Similar to the Holiday Punch Card Campaign, the GINCC will create cards with programs that include (but are not limited to):
Assessment: Timely health risk assessments and regular schedules check-ups.
Education and coaching: Through health coaching and classes, we encourage chamber members to change their health behaviors for the better.
Interventions: Consulting with health specialists to reduce health risk.
Recreation: Providing ongoing classes and resources to be active as an individual or in a group. Individuals can provide classes for chamber members or we can promote local ongoing recreational events like 5K’s, gardening, bike rides, and local yoga classes.

Why take part in this campaign? In addition to promoting overall community health, there is an incentive program. Community members have a chance to win up to $100 and be featured in the GINCC weekly email blast.

How does it work? For every ‘rack card’ filled out a month (at least five out of programs offered on rack card). Submit card to GINCC at 910 US Highway 41 W in Ishpeming.

Example of the proposed rack card can be found in our related documents section. To submit a health and wellness program or to learn more, contact the GINCC at or 906-486-1111.
