LITTLE LAKE, Mich. (WLUC) - Community support was strong Wednesday night at a fundraiser for former Gwinn football coach Dion Brown, who died unexpectedly last month.

The Throttle Bar and Grill in Little Lake hosted this "Sled Night" event as it does every Wednesday in the winter.

Coach Brown was a beloved community member and the head varsity football coach of the Gwinn Modeltowners.

Local businesses and community members donated prizes and money for bucket drawings and a 50-50 raffles. The event raised money for Coach Brown's scholarship fund and memorial service.

"The guy gave back to the community so much and touched so many lives that I had to do this. It was something that was very important to me, my son has played for Dion for quite a few years," says coordinator and volunteer Anna Juicidi.

The Throttle holds sled night fundraisers for different causes every Wednesday night through March.

The events raised a total of about $23,000 in 2019.
