Four out of five millage proposals passed for Peter White Public Library

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Five millage proposals for Peter White Public Library were on Tuesday’s election ballot.

Out of those five, four passed except for the service agreement proposal in Powell Township.

Library officials say they were hoping all five proposals would've passed, however Executive Director Andrea Igmire says they're very pleased and relieved to know they're current operating budget is stabilized, which was their highest priority.

"What this means for the community is that our current operating budget is stabilized, so what we were trying to do is back-fill funding before its lost, so we've got some upcoming funding losses for the next couple years and what this means is that we won't have to cut services as a result of those funding losses,” said Igmire.

The board will review everything, look at all the finances and then determine where they go from there at their next board meeting on November 20.

In the meantime, Igmire says their next step is to bring back Sunday hours.
