Former Marquette resident arrested on 74 count warrant for Child Sexually Abusive Activity
A former Marquette resident has been arrested on a 74-count felony warrant for Child Sexually Abusive Material.
49-year-old Edward James Charboneau was arrested on Thursday October 24 around 4:30 p.m. at an address on Eagle St. in Forsyth Township.
Charboneau is facing 35 counts of Child Sexually Abusive Activity, 2 counts of Child Sexually Abusive Material-Aggravated Possession, and 37 counts of Using a Computer to Commit a Crime.
According to the Marquette Police Department, the warrants stemmed from a lengthy investigation that was originally reported as an embezzlement from a local organization.
During the embezzlement investigation, digital devices were seized and child sexually abusive materials were found on the devices.
Charboneau was arrested without incident and his bond was set at $740,000. He was unable to post bond and is expected to be arraigned in Marquette County District Court Friday afternoon.
The Marquette Police Department was assisted by the Forsyth Township Police Department and Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit.
