UPDATE: Monday April 23rd, 11:18 A.M:

NMU’s Chief Marking Officer Derek Hall released a statement on Monday about conducting an investigation into allegations against their former interim head football coach, Robert Boss.

“In January 2018, Northern Michigan University received information that allowed the Equal Opportunity Officer/Title IX Coordinator of the university to immediately open an investigation. The complainant is a former student and the respondent of the complaint is a former employee. NMU has cooperated with local authorities in their concurrent investigation. Northern Michigan University takes sexual harassment and assault complaints seriously by conducting timely and thorough investigations and taking appropriate actions.”

34-year-old Robert Boss previously worked for Northern Michigan University for eight seasons as a defensive and offensive line coach, academic coordinator, run game coordinator and in 2016 he was named interim head coach.

The charge of Aggravated Assault-Domestic Violence stems from an incident that happened August 2016, while he was still working at NMU.

Boss' bond was set at $5,000, which he posted 10% of and was released.

On Monday, Boss waived his arraignment and pleaded not guilty. A pretrial conference in Marquette County Circuit Court has been scheduled for June 11th.

In November 2017, Boss was named the head football coach at Finlandia University. Boss no longer works for the University as of last Wednesday.
