MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Northern Michigan University community is mourning the loss of a freshman student and former soccer player who died in a car crash downstate on Sunday.
According to the Lansing State Journal, Keara Ann Bullen, 19, of Mason, Michigan, died in a crash on US-127 around 12:32 p.m. after she “was traveling northbound, lost control, crossed the median and struck two vehicles going south.”
According to the Lansing State Journal article, a passenger in Bullen’s vehicle was uninjured.
NMU sent out a campus-wide email on Tuesday, saying they will be lowering their flags to half-staff on Wednesday, April 17, in honor of Bullen, who was a marketing major at NMU.
The email also said any students in need of counseling services can contact the Dean of Students Office or Counseling and Consultation Services at 906-227-2980.
On Bullen’s online obituary, NMU Freshman Celeste Adaway said, “I went to high school with Keara, and we were both freshman at NMU together. She was a familiar face who always made sure to smile and wave when she saw me. It helped me more than she could ever know and I will forever remember her kindness.”
