First fully licensed medical marijuana dispensary in Upper Peninsula

Northern Specialty Health is officially the first fully licensed medical marijuana dispensary in the U.P. The second part of their license was approved Thursday in a four to one vote.

Employees are in the process of learning Metrc software. Metrc is the state's seed to sale monitoring and tracking system. The dispensary's owner also commented how legalized recreational use will impact her business.

"It's hard to say. Some patients might choose to try to grow their own, but they always had that option in the first place. Down the road, it might have an impact on us, but there will always be medical marijuana patients and that is who we are here for," said owner Penny Milkey.

Northern Specialty Health has also installed security upgrades as per licensing requirements.
