MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - 850 teachers from across Upper Michigan were recently in Marquette for the first ever combined Upper Peninsula Education Conference.
Teachers from all seven intermediate school districts in the U.P. were on hand. In years past, there'd be separate conferences for general education, special education, and even different grades.
Now combined into one, they're able to minimize costs, share resources, and most importantly share ideas.
“What're you doing that works, what new and exciting things are happening in your district, and it's just an opportunity to share those ideas and collaborate in a way that we really don't have a lot of opportunity to do,” said Calee Malvasio, special education teacher with Marquette Area Public Schools.
Organizers say they plan on hosting the conference again next year.
