UPDATE: M-77 reopens after fire destroys Historic Blaney Lodge

SCHOOLCRAFT COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) - UPDATE: As of 9:30 p.m., M-77 is open in both directions, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.


UPDATE: As of 6:05 p.m. the northbound lane of M-77 reopened. The southbound lane is still closed at this time.

The Historic Blaney lodge in Schoolcraft County burned down this afternoon.

The fire began around 2:45, causing both north and south bound lanes on M-77 at LaPorte Road to close. The road remains closed at this time.

According to a witness at the scene, it appeared that the surrounding buildings have been saved.

Seney Township Fire and Rescue, Thompson Township Fire, and Michigan State Police are all on the scene.
