CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) - UPDATE: Monday, April 22, 10:32 a.m.
The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office has released the names of those involved in a fatal crash early Monday morning.
Police say the driver of the vehicle was 22-year-old Kole Stephen Rabb, of Kalamazoo. He was transported to War Memorial Hospital by Sault Fire where he remains with what appears to be non-life threatening injuries, investigators say.
Rabb's passenger, 27-year-old Stacey Lynn Hough of Sault Ste. Marie died in the crash.
According to the sheriff's office, Rabb and Hough were a couple, returning from an Easter visit.
Accident Investigators from the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office were called out to process the scene and the investigation is still ongoing.
The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office reports that officers were dispatched to I-75 near 6 mile at approximately 2:20 a.m. Monday morning.
Early reports state that a young Kalamazoo man was driving with a female passenger when he may have fallen asleep.
The vehicle drove into the median and rolled over multiple times.
The passenger was a young woman from Sault Ste. Marie. She did not survive the crash.
Northbound traffic was previously closed from M-28 North while investigators were on the scene. The roadway has since been re-opened to all traffic.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor at this time.
The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Sault Ste. Marie Police Department and Border Patrol.
