NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - The National Weather Service set a daily snowfall record Tuesday.
The NWS recorded a total of 16.5 inches of snow before midnight at its Negaunee Township office, breaking the previous daily record for Feb. 12 of 13.5 inches set in 1965.
Lake effect snow continued past midnight in the Marquette area. Many schools and offices across Upper Michigan are closed or delayed Wednesday.
Travel is very difficult or impossible on roads that have yet to be plowed from the heavy snow that has fallen.
