Feb. 12 storm sets daily snowfall record at National Weather Service

The National Weather Service set a daily snowfall record Tuesday.
The NWS recorded a total of 16.5 inches of snow before midnight at its Negaunee Township office, breaking the previous daily record for Feb. 12 of 13.5 inches set in 1965.
There are higher
Lake effect snow continued past midnight in the Marquette area.
Travel is very difficult or impossible on roads that have yet to be plowed from the heavy snow that has fallen.
