Fatal crash at the Norway Speedway
The Michigan State Police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred on Friday, August 17 at approximately 7:15 p.m.
Witnesses reported that a jet car was performing a driving display went off the track and collided with the guardrail before flipping on its side. The driver, Douglas Rose of Ring Town PA, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Norway Track personnel, Norway Fire Department, and Beacon Ambulance assisted at the scene.
The secretary of the Norway Speedway has confirmed there was a fatal accident at the race Friday night.
According to John Ostermann, the driver of the Green Mamba Jet Car, Doug Rose, lost control during an exhibition and crashed.
Rose was pronounced dead at the scene. The races were cancelled Friday night and will resume on Saturday.
