HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) - The Huskies end their time in the NCAA tournament with a loss to Notre Dame today. The Huskies lost 4-3 to Notre Dame today in Conneticut. In the John McInnes Ice Arena, it was Huskies pride to the bitter end.

"I still think there is a very good vibe. Obviously, we score, everybody is screaming, everybody is cheering. But during the actual gameplay you can feel the tension," said MTU student Matt Kiekintveld.

"Coming to a place like this where everybody was gathered it felt like they really were playing right in front of us. It was awesome. I was a little unsure about whether I wanted to or not, but I am so glad that I came," said Rebekah Schmidt of Dollar Bay.

"Yeah it is pretty wild. It is pretty fun when they score, then all of a sudden everybody sings and cheers. All the fun that is going on with the kids is good," said fan Beth Kiekintveld.

MTU was down 3-2 near the end of the third period. But, they scored with just over one minute remaining in regulation, sending the game into sudden death overtime.

"It was incredible. It was just like our team, though. Like we did in Marquette last weekend. We wanted it, so we went there and we got it," said Schmidt.

Unfortunately for Huskies fans, Notre Dame scored more than 16 minutes into the first overtime.

"Oh, it is a real bummer. In my opinion, especially in that overtime, we played a better game, and it is just heartbreaking but at the same time I think a lot of people weren't expecting us to be there anyway. So, we are really proud of them," said Schmidt.

On that loyal note, the Huskies' hockey season comes to a close. No doubt fans are eager to return next year.
