Family fun holiday concert happening this Saturday at Gallery Coffee Company
Even though winter-like conditions have been floating around the Upper Peninsula for some time now, the first official start to the season isn't until this Saturday.
To celebrate its beginning, Gallery Coffee Company in Munising is opening their shop Saturday night for some holiday music.
"It's really, really rewarding to be a musician at this time of year,” said Marquette Symphony Orchestra Concert Master, Janis Peterson.
Janis Peterson, who prides herself as being the Concert Master for the Marquette Symphony Orchestra, says she's excited for her and the Marquette Symphony Chamber Strings to share their love of music to the world this Saturday at the Gallery Coffee Company in Munising.
"People are really moved by it, so it moves us, too. For me personally, I think I've cried 25 times in the last week or so,” said Peterson.
"What better way to close out the season than with the Marquette Symphony Orchestra performing their holiday music for everyone,” said Gallery Coffee Company owner, Ana Dolaskie.
This way people will be able to enjoy sweet, holiday treats just in time for the start of winter, and a few days away from the holiday.
"We've always tried to bring music here that has a little bit of something for everyone and I think the Marquette Symphony Orchestra really rounds that out,” explained Dolaskie.
This Saturday, the 12-member orchestra will perform Sounds of Holiday Strings consisting of traditional holiday songs and medleys to put a smile on everyone's face. There also will be several new lively arrangements of old classics.
"It's very, very fun for us to play this kind of holiday music for everybody. It makes everybody feel good,” said Peterson.
The show starts at 7 p.m. this Saturday at the Gallery Coffee Company in Munising.
