ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) - Saturday, May 18, the annual Escanaba Cleanup is happening rain or shine. It's your chance to show community pride and clean up trash and debris left behind from the winter.
Last year, more than 400 volunteers showed up to make downtown clean and green. No help is refused, as organizers work along with volunteers up and down Ludington Street for the cleanup.
"It's really an event that brings together the civic pride in Escanaba. The thing I love about this event is it's not just one group. It's kids, it's grandparents, it's scouts, students, businesses, everyone gets together and everyone is the same," said Escanaba DDA Director, Ed Legault.
Participants meet up at the Escanaba Marketplace on the corner of 15th and Ludington Street for sign in at 9 a.m. The cleanup is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Then there will be free food and prizes at the Marketplace.
