Escanaba woman killed in east-central Wisconsin crash

TOWN OF MECAN, Wis. (WLUC) - The Marquette County (Wisconsin) 911 Center received a report of a vehicle crash on County Road C in the Town of Mecan, Wis. on Tuesday, July 11, at 4:09 p.m.

The crash involved a motorcycle that was traveling southbound on CTH C approaching a curve at the intersection of Riverview Drive. The motorcycle braked, went down, and slid into the left ditch (east). The motorcycle and occupant then went down an embankment.

The driver, Ronald Joseph Sinnaeve, 44, of Brampton, Michigan, stated that he saw a deer come out of the woods and he braked, losing control. Sinnaeve also stated that he and the passenger of the motorcycle were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

The passenger, Jennifer Jean Vermote, 44, of Escanaba, Michigan, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Marquette County (Wisconsin) Coroner's Office.

The crash is still under investigation by the Marquette County (Wisconsin) Sheriff's Office and the Marquette County (Wisconsin) Coroner's Office.
