Escanaba residents vote on two millage renewals

ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) - On Tuesday, Escanaba residents voted on two proposals to help their sheriff's department.

The community was asked to vote *yes* to renew Delta County's Central Dispatch, or 9-1-1 millage. In addition to voting *yes* to renew and increase the Road Patrol Millage to 1.3 mills.

Both proposals will add additional officers in the community as well as more money for police equipment.

At noon, voting officials reported a slow turnout. But since polls were open until 8 p.m., they're hoping to have a successful end.
