Escanaba man's felonious assault case dismissed in Delta County

DELTA COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) - An Escanaba man who was facing charges in Delta County for malicious destruction of a building and felonious assault has died.

David Tebear, 54, was involved in an overnight standoff in Escanaba in March. Officers say they were investigating a report of property damage on Sheridan Road. Tebear had pointed a handgun at officers. He barricaded himself inside and communication was eventually established with Tebear. He was taken into custody without incident.

Tebear’s charges consisted of malicious destruction of a building $1,000 or more but less than $20,000, felonious assault with a dangerous weapon, weapons - felony firearm pneumatic gun, two counts of police officer-assaulting/resisting/obstructing, and carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent.

No further information regarding his cause of death was available.
