ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) - Thanks to the help of parents and guardians, the Escanaba Kindergarten Center collected 2,051 items to donate to the TV6 Canathon.

This is 61 more items than last year's total.

Every year the school hosts a friendly competition between the classes to try and beat the amount they collected the prior year.

This year, they were successful and can't thank parents and guardians enough for all their support.

"I really want to thank the parents who support their students in our school district. Obviously, this couldn't be done without the parents, so we're really proud of them,” said Educational Support Professional at Escanaba Kindergarten Center, Gypsia Flath.

The class which collected the most cans will have a pizza party to celebrate.

Meanwhile, the second place class will have donuts.
