Woman rescued from burning home in Gladstone Sunday afternoon

An 80-year-old woman is recovering after a house fire in Gladstone Sunday afternoon.

The Gladstone Public Safety Department says officers were dispatched to a report of a house fire at 112 Cliffs Drive at 4:45 p.m. Sunday.

A woman was reported to still be inside the home when officers arrived on scene. Officers were able to enter the home and bring her outside.

The 80-year-old woman was transported to St. Francis Hospital for her injuries. She was then air lifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The extent of her injuries is unknown, and her identity has not been released.

The Gladstone Public Safety Department says the fire was contained and extinguished quickly. The home’s interior sustained heavy fire and smoke damage. The cause is still under investigation.

The Gladstone Public Safety and the city’s Volunteer Fire Department were assisted by the Escanaba Township Volunteer Fire Department, Rampart EMS, and Delta County Central Dispatch.
