HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) - Eagle Country Radio in L’Anse is traveling the copper country picking up cans from area schools for the TV6 Canathon.
The station started their three day pick up tour Monday morning in the Keweenaw Peninsula. They've made stops at the Calumet and Dollar Bay high schools, as well as some supermarkets.
Today they stopped in at Houghton High School and Middle School, where students from all grades were helping load up the canned goods students and faculty donated.
"It's nice you know? It's nice to see how much people in the area actually care, I couldn't even tell you how much we've picked up so far this year," said Brandon Dakota, Program Director for Eagle Country Radio.
So far the team has spent the past two mornings making regular stops to pick up cans and drop them off at food banks. They'll pick back up tomorrow morning for their final day of their copper country collection tour.
