Manistique's drive in theater is being re-opened for one night only.
Friday night, they will be holding a free showing of Back to the Future. The theater can fit roughly 300 cars in for viewing. Gates will be opening up at 8:30 p.m. with the movie starting a little after 10 p.m. Organizers ask that everyone get there close to 8:30 p.m. to avoid a line up along U.S. 2.
This showing is being made possible between the joint efforts of the Schoolcraft County Economic Development Corportation, Limestone Federal Credit Union, and other volunteers from the community.
"So many people, especially younger people, have never even been to a drive in, and this is a really cool event for folks to come see," said Alan Barr, executive director. "We just wanted something that people could come and enjoy in particular families, you know, something to do in the summer."
If the movie receives enough positive feedback, they are looking to possibly make this a regular event.
