Dr. Jim Hines became the first candidate to file signatures with the Michigan Secretary of State for the office of Governor.

Hines, who is seeking the Republican nomination, filed 22,575 signatures on Monday with the State. Signatures were gathered from every congressional district in the state.

At a press conference prior to the filing Hines said, “I am the only Republican candidate for governor who does not have a long political history. My history is as a doctor, missionary, small business owner, chief of medicine for a large healthcare system and the president of the National Christian Medical and Dental Association."

“If the voters of Michigan think that the way to solve their problems is to elect as their governor a term-limited politician looking for their next job, they will have several other choices in the Republican primary. If the voters are tired of politicians and are looking for outsiders –I am their candidate.”
