Downstate man sentenced for crashing stolen vehicle into house

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - A Grand Haven, Michigan man arrested for crashing a stolen vehicle was sentenced Friday in Marquette County Circuit Court.

Brock Stenfors, 20, was sentenced, but there was no public record of his hearing.

The crash happened in Marquette in September 2017. After an investigation at the scene where blood evidence was found and DNA testing was completed, a warrant was issued for Stenfors by the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office. He was charged with unlawfully driving away at automobile.

Stenfors was arrested by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office downstate, where he later posted bond.

A stolen car crashed into the front porch of a home at 12:17 a.m. September 8, 2017, near the corner of Union Street and Van Evera Avenue, just north of Northern Michigan University’s campus. The Marquette Police Department said the car had just been stolen from a nearby home. Stenfors ran away before police arrived.

Both the residence and the stolen vehicle sustained major damage.
