ISHPEMING, Mich. (WLUC) - The Ishpeming Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire early Saturday morning.
Officials received the call at 12:47 a.m., when a neighbor saw smoke and flames coming from the 602 Bank Street home.
When firefighter’s arrived on the scene, heavy smoke and fire were coming from the rear of the residence, and they remained on scene for 2 1/2 hours. There was no one home at the time of the incident, however, the resident’s dog perished in the fire.
The home suffered heavy smoke and water damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported.
Pigs & Heat, along with the American Red Cross, were contacted for the fire victim. Marquette County 131 Rescue, Health System Bell EMS, Negaunee City Fire Department and Ishpeming City Police, SEMCO & UPPCO assisted on scene.
