New details surface in the Christopher Regan case
The details behind the disappearance and death of Christopher Regan were revealed Tuesday in the preliminary hearing for Kelly Cochran, 34, who's charged with homicide in connection to Regan's death.
The prosecutor called 11 witnesses the stand.
First was Terri O'Donnell, Regan's friend who filed the missing person report for Regan back in Oct. 27, 2014 when she didn't hear from him for a few weeks.
“The last time I heard from him was [the morning of] Oct. 14," O'Donnell said. "When I spoke to a friend of mine who worked at Lake Shore with [Regan], he also said that was about the last time he saw Christopher at work.”
Regan was preparing to start a new job in North Carolina in November 2014.
His Honda Genesis was found at the Bates Park & Go in Bates Township. When police opened Regan's car they found a note with handwritten directions to Jason and Kelly Cochran's house. Kelly has admitted to having a relationship with Regan. Two neighbors also testified that there were unusual sounds coming from the Cochran’s home in the middle of the night in the fall of 2014.
“It sounded like a gun shot and I heard loud voices,” Cochran's neighbor Caroline Miatech said. “I looked out my window and I saw a woman. There was a car parked out there by the house, maybe three or four feet from the house.”
Miatech's grandson David Saylor then took the stand and described what he heard.
“I heard constant sanding in the middle of the night and all their tools were running,” Saylor said.
Last to take the stand Tuesday was Iron River Police Chief Laura Frizzo.
"[Kelly Cochran said she] saw Jason shoot Regan in the back of the head,” Frizzo said.
Frizzo also testified that Cochran revealed details about how her husband Jason Cochran planned to dispose of Regan’s body.
"She talked about how Jason wanted to put the head and hands in separate bags, which he did because his plan was to put those in acid,” said Frizzo.
In March 2015, Jason and Kelly Cochran left Michigan and moved to Indiana. Cochran is also accused of killing her husband Jason Cochran who died in February in Lake County, Indiana.
