ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) - Several Democrat candidates were making the rounds during the U.P. State Fair's Senior Citizens' Day.

Candidates Scott Dianda, Ken Summers, Bob Romps and Matt Morgan were all busy shaking hands and greeting visitors to the Ruth Butler building on the fairgrounds.

Making her second visit to the U.P. since the beginning of July, Democrat candidate for Secretary of State Jocely Benson was also taking time to introduce herself to U.P. voters.

"Well, I think the people of Michigan deserve a Secretary of State who works as hard as they do and that's me. I'm the daughter of two special education teachers. I've worked to make ends meet and now I want to bring the working experience that I've got , particularly running public institutions, to state government."

Benson's Republican opponent will be determined at the upcoming Republican State Convention.
