ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) - After being forced to close and cancel flights Sunday, the Delta County Airport re-opened Monday.
This development, thanks to the work from staff, who tirelessly cleared the runway of snow. Flights were on time Monday after a late night of snow plowing and ice removal. Most travelers from the canceled flights were able to get out Monday, but some have had to re-book for later in the week.
“There was a gentleman here at 11 o'clock last night and back here at 5:30 this morning so it's been a Herculean effort to get this airport open and all of the credit goes to them,” said Delta County Airport Manager Andrea Nummilien.
Next on the list for the airport, cleaning out their parking lots. Many vehicles remain buried in both long term and short term parking.
