ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) - The Delta County Chamber of Commerce kicked off the U.P. State Fair by opening their new building.
The ribbon was cut on the new chamber building Monday, less than a year from when ground was broken. Funds were raised through Patronicity, with generous contributions from the John and Mellisa Besse Foundation. The chamber is excited to move into a state of the art building, right on the main highway through Escanaba.
“We really wanted, and the community really wanted to see the chamber in a location that was a little more visible, and more accessible,” said Vickie Micheau, Executive Director of the Delta County Chamber of Commerce and fair organizer. “So there is no place more visible and accessible than on the busiest highway in the Upper Peninsula.”
The chamber will officially begin operation out of the new building August 26.
