ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) - The Delta County Animal Shelter is getting plenty of help this summer. The center is once again holding their ‘Kids Who Care Fridays.’
On Friday mornings local kids ages 12 and up volunteer at the center. They help to clean and feed the animals and even play with them. Their main goal is to help with animal care.
“We're also able to expose the youth to the medical field profession of veterinarian medicine,” said Delta County Animal Shelter Director Susan Gartland. “A lot of them maybe are interested in going into the medical field, so sometimes they're able to watch surgeries or participate in vaccines.”
The program started in June and will go until the school year starts.
