Dangerous ice conditions are showing on Munising Bay. A pressure crack has formed and it’s a major safety concern, according to the Alger County Sheriff’s Department.
The pressure crack in the ice is on the west side of Munising Bay extending to Grand Island. Deputies say it’s from Powell’s Point northeast to Rock 67 on Grand Island.
Snowmobilers should use extreme caution and avoid that area.
This alert is for anyone on a snowmobile in the area touring or going ice fishing using a snow machine. Deputies say they could head across the ice and unknowingly coming across this pressure crack and get hurt.
Again, there’s a pressure crack in the ice in West Munising Bay. Snowmobilers need to stay away from the area.
