IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WLUC) - Dickinson County Healthcare System has earned an 'A' for fall 2019 from the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades.

The grade is from the State of Michigan by the Economic Alliance for Michigan a nonprofit group comprised of some of the state's largest employers and unions.

The EAM used 28 evidence-based measures of patient safety to score, including how safe they keep their patients from errors, injuries, accidents and infections.

"It's indicative of the dedication the employees have had in offering the patient the safest and the greatest experience they possibly can deliver and recognition externally from an organization like Leap Frog is a significant accomplishment for the organization and a compliment for sure,” said DCHS’ President and CEO Chuck Nelson.

In Michigan, 78 hospitals were graded, and 32 earned an "A."
