IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WLUC) - The Iron Mountain Fire and Iron Mountain Police Departments were dispatched to a three-car personal injury accident at 12:03 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31.

The accident happened on US-2 near “H” Street as well as in the Neu Cup parking lot. A pickup truck was southbound on US-2 approaching “H” Street when the 62-year-old man from Crystal Falls experienced a life-threatening medical issue causing him to go unconscious. At this time, the pickup truck crossed the center line of the roadway and struck a passenger car that was stopped on US-2 waiting to turn westbound onto “H” Street.

After striking the passenger car, the pickup truck left the roadway continuing onto the sidewalk, still southbound. After traveling on the sidewalk, the pickup truck struck a second pickup truck parked in the Neu Cup parking lot. After this impact, the pickup truck spun around and then continued northbound up an embankment where it stopped moving.

Responding firefighters and a responding police officer were able to remove the subject from the pickup truck and disable the vehicle that was still in drive with the wheels spinning at a high rate of speed.

The only injury was to the 62-year-old man driving the pickup truck. He transported to Dickinson County Healthcare System for treatment by Integrity Care EMS.
