UPDATE: 3 escape overnight Escanaba house fire

ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) - No one was injured in a fire at a two-story duplex in Escanaba early Monday morning.

According to Escanaba Public Safety, a fire in the back of the home at 416 1st Ave. S. was reported at 1:04 a.m.

When crews arrived, they found the northeast corner of the home was up in flames along with a vehicle in the driveway. Officers quickly attacked the fire, but it had already spread to the upstairs apartment and into the attic area.

Escanaba Public Safety says three people who were in the duplex when the fire started safely escaped.

Officers were at the scene until 10:30 a.m. Monday. The American Red Cross is assisting the families with temporary housing. The duplex is a complete loss.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Ford River Township Fire Department, Rampart EMS, the Delta County Sheriff's Office, Escanaba Public Works, Escanaba City Electric, DTE and the American Red Cross all assisted Escanaba Public Safety.
