Crews finishing up prep work for US-41 corridor reconstruction project

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - Construction of two roundabouts and a tunnel on US-41 in Marquette Township is set to begin next week.

Between now and April 15, the first day of construction, crews are busy moving utility lines. This includes water, gas, and fiber optics. Businesses shouldn't expect any outages, but will be alerted if necessary. Planners want to make sure this $10.9 million project is done efficiently to minimize the effect that it has on the busiest highway corridor in Marquette County.

“We need to have people's patience, it is going to be a busy construction season and it's a major project, so we're asking people to be as patient as possible and to plan accordingly,” said Jason McCarthy, planning and zoning administrator with the Marquette Charter Township.

Most of the construction should be complete this year, with just minor work to be finished in the spring of 2020.
