CRYSTAL FALLS, Mich. (WLUC) - Crystal Falls is receiving a $7 million loan and a $1.4 million grant for a new sewer system.
The USDA is providing the funding through the Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program.
This will help improve three lift stations, replace force main piping, and replace the original 1967 gravity sewer pipe. The project will also restore the lagoon cells to the original design.
The sewer system serves 750 residential and 90 commercial customers.
The City Manager of Crystal Falls, Gerald Valesano said, "It's something that's been needed for a while, anticipating this, our engineers that we work with have warned us that we need to get something done. The system is over 50 years old so we are excited to get this ball rolling."
The construction in Crystal Falls will begin in the late spring.
