IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WLUC) - Dickinson and Iron County community service agencies gathered on Wednesday to focus on the housing needs in the area. They were joined, via phone, by a coordinator at the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.
Their goal is to help better serve at-risk populations and get a better understanding of the importance of the housing assessment and resource agency.
They talked about funding and their focus this year, of helping the homeless.
"We got some new faces at the table and a good history on the purpose of this local planning body, and the over-arching issues that affect us in the state, and what resources are available,” said Kristin Sommerfeld, the Executive Director at the Dickinson-Iron Community Services Agency.
A local planning group will meet on the third Wednesday of every month at the Dickinson County Library at 11 a.m.
